June 21, 2026.
Spent this beautiful Sunday exploring various National Park Sites and paying tribute to Ground Zero.
Governors Island is a stone’s throw from lower Manhattan and housed the governors of New York and New Jersey back when England still held the colonies. Post-U.S. independence, the island became a military base which lasted nearly 200 years. Today, visitors can see the remnants of Castle Williams and Fort Jay, as well as explore nature, art, and cuisine.

Visited Ground Zero after leaving Governors Island. I felt heavy and sad visiting the memorial pools and going through the museum. I vividly remember that day and the immediate days that followed. It was odd seeing young adults at the museum who were not alive when this happened or were too young to remember.

Walked over to nearby Federal Hall. Saw the stone on which George Washington stood when he became President.

Theodore Roosevelt’s birthplace came next. Toured the home. The little crib stuck out to me. That little crib once held a president.

I truly love being back in this city and walking down its many streets and avenues.
