I’m back in Wisconsin to finish the Ice Age Trail. Still have miles 917.8 – 1160.1 left to hike. I’ll do these remaining miles as dayhikes with a home base near my halfway point.
A lovely lady named Kathy shuttled me for my first three days.
Sept 11, 2026. Lake Eleven segment. Mile 917.8 – 933.3. 15.5 miles with about 1150 ft elevation gain. Lake Eleven is a forested walk with many small hills and lots of marshy water crossings. Many crossings have the barest of logs and planks, and I think this area is usually muddy and wet. It’s been unusually dry this summer though, so for me the footing was quick and easy.
Sept 12. Connecting route between Lake Eleven and Otter Lake (miles 933.3 – 949.8). 16.5 miles of country roads. Beautiful fields, corn, cows, sky, barns, tractors, horses.
Sept 13. Mile 949.8 (Otter Lake) to mile 961.1 (connecting route). Otter Lake segment is a tiny. 0.8-mile narrow path through some woods by a small lake. There’s a sign warning of a bold mama bear and two cubs, but I was not graced with their presence. The 10+ mile roadwalk/connecting route was a mix of gravel and pavement. More beautiful fields, corn, cows, barns, and tractors. No horses today though.
