Assabet National Wild & Scenic River

October 6, 2022

I forgot to stick my hand in the Assabet River when I visited the NWR, so today I found a different and interesting place to revisit the waters: Egg Rock by the confluence of the Assabet and Sudbury National Wild & Scenic Rivers.

This spot in Concord, MA is sometimes an island when the rivers run high, but today it was easily accessible by wooded trail. An 1885 inscription in rock (facing the rivers) pays tribute to the area’s native inhabitants.

Wealthy homes abound in the area, so if you visit, make sure not to park in front of houses or on “private way” streets.
