Sabbaday Brook Trail (to the falls) – National Recreation Trail, NH

July 16, 2021

After hiking Boulder Loop Trail, I stopped by Sabbaday Falls on the way home. These trails are just down the road (the Kancamagus, Route 112, between Lincoln and Conway) from each other, so it’s easy to do both in one day.

I have hiked past these falls numerous times during my Grid hikes – if you continue past the falls, Sabbady Brook Trail leads up the Tripyramids, two mountains on the NH 4000-er list. That trail is wild and beautiful, and it felt strange not to continue along it today. Only the first bit, the part that goes to the falls, is considered a National Recreation Trail, and it was nice to just go the few tenths of a mile. That waterfall is beautiful, and the wooden stairs and railings are lovely, and too often have I hiked right by this beauty because I was in a hurry to get to the summit or get back to the car after a long mountain hike.

The path (to the falls) is wide and easy. There are information signs at the start of the trail and at the falls. The photos below don’t do the area justice – it really is quite lovely.

Note – parking costs $5, and that lot fills up fast. If you are going on the weekend, get there before 7am or you won’t get a spot. Midweek is much better.
