Boulder Loop Trail. NRT, NH.

July 16, 2021

I couldn’t do a full-day hike for my “White Mountain Tracing/Trailbagging” goal today because I didn’t want to deal with the horrible humidity that was in the forecast. Instead, I did a quick early-morning hike of Boulder Loop Trail.

Boulder Loop Trail is a usual White Mountain trail – lots of rocks, boulders, and roots as the footpath. The total elevation gain is 900 feet, and there are gorgeous views from the ledges (make sure you do the path to the ledges).

I hiked quickly and did this 3-mile loop in less than an hour. That’s good time when you’re talking about typical White Mountain trails. The mosquitos helped…walk too slowly and they’ll bite you nonstop, even at 7am during high summer. Mainly, I was walking quickly because I was chipper thinking of my oldest daughter, who is about to go off to college. I am so proud of her and I love her so much. Part of me is profoundly sad at the knowledge that the little girl I used to know and hug is gone forever. However, the sadness is eclipsed by the excitement and happiness I feel for my daughter. The person that little girl turned into is a wonderful, strong human being. As I continue my adventures throughout the rest of my life, I look forward to hearing about my daughter’s adventures of her own life. I envision us talking on the phone and meeting from time to time, sharing our tales with one another.
