Crawford Path. NRT, NH

The Crawford Path is well-known to avid NH hikers. It leads to the “southern Presi’s” and, on fair-weather days, offers mindblowing-ly gorgeous views and outstanding above-treeline experiences. On bad weather days, you could get blown off your feet, suffer from hypothermia, endure white-outs, and quite possibly die. This is a trail for experienced hikers – or at least, people who are smart enough to know when they need to turn around.

It’s unclear to me if the National Recreation Trail section is the entire Crawford Path, which is over 8 miles one-way and ends on the top of Mt Washington, or just the part that leads to Mt. Pierce, which is about 3 miles one-way. I include two sections of photos below, taken from the various times I’ve hiked this trail over the past 13 years – one set is just the part that leads to Pierce and the view from Pierce, the other set contains views from Crawford Path between Pierce and Washington.

From the trailhead to Pierce – the last photo is the view from Pierce toward Eisenhower (and beyond that, Washington, though you can’t see it in the photo) –
