Mobile-Tensaw River Bottomlands National Natural Landmark. Alabama

April 4, 2025. This is an NNL best seen by water. There are roads and highways surrounding it, but access is difficult due to private roads and construction. There is a park close to I-10, but the gates were closed today.

From the NPS website: “Mobile-Tensaw River Bottomlands is one of the most important wetlands in the nation. The site contains a variety of habitats, including mesic floodplains, freshwater swamps and brackish water marshes, and supports several rare and endangered species.”

Heading back to Wisconsin soon to get back on the Ice Age Trail!
