May 20, 2025. Stopped by this NNL on my way to Syracuse from Rochester and did the two-mile trail around and through the bog. I just missed a tour group; the leader was in the parking area when I arrived, and he enthusiastically chatted me up about the bog before I entered. He was a nice fellow. I always enjoy meeting people who are knowledgeable about and appreciative of natural landscapes.
From the NPS website: “Zurich Bog is a good example of northern sphagnum bog and bog forest vegetation, both of which are uncommon in north-central New York.”
