Had a lovely time on this prettier-than-expected towpath-turned-recreation trail. Half of it was narrow and overgrown with beautiful blooming buttercups, the other half was wider and mowed. All of it follows the canal, and I saw geese, ducks, deer, a muskrat, and cottontails. It was a lovely walk, and I carried an almost-completely-full backpack. Just need to add a few toiletries and two items of light clothing, and I’ll be carrying all my AT gear.
The towpath was part of the Erie Canal network and runs about 7 miles from Bouckville to Hamilton, NY.
