Montezuma Marsh National Natural Landmark is part of Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. The marsh is a wetland complex and an important stopover for migratory birds.
The NWR managers built a gravel road around part of the marsh, and there were a ton of folks in their cars birdwatching this morning. There are also a few trails here and there, but many were closed for bald eagle nesting protection. Only got in 4.2 miles of hiking when I had anticipated closer to 10.
