Took a day trip to southern MA to walk all the trails of Audubon’s Caratunk Wildlife Refuge. This is not a NWR, but all the trails together are considered “a” National Recreation Trail. It’s easy walking through forest, though the ground can be rocky and muddy in places. The trails are marked well, and I highly recommend a visit if one wants a peaceful amble through a well-maintained nature preserve.
I drove to nearby Attleboro afterward to get the very short Balfour Riverwalk Trail (NRT), but when I returned home I learned I didn’t hike the right path. Oops. I will go back and hike the right one when I head toward Providence in the spring to check off some RI sites. While in Attleboro I got to have a wonderful visit with a friend, so I don’t mind that I missed the targeted trail.
