Ice Age Trail. Lumbercamp segment. April 18, 2025

Ice Age Trail, Lumbercamp segment. 12-ish miles. April 18, 2025.

Easy peasy, especially after yesterday’s Kettlebowl sufferfest. Lumbercamp hasn’t been cleaned up yet either, but the ice storm managed to knock over comparatively few trees along this segment. Almost all blowdowns were easy step-overs. It was a mostly clear trail.

Didn’t even have to ride my bike today since I finagled a ride from a triathlete I saw in my motel’s parking lot. I had noticed her yesterday on trail going in a different direction, so when I saw her in the motel parking lot this morning getting ready to head to a nearby segment, I asked her if she wanted to do a carspot. She too usually shuttles herself with a bike. She agreed to the carspot, and we drove each other around and hiked our segments, no bike riding needed.

Views today: lots of wide ATV trails, a bit of normal trail, marshes and small lakes, and the ducks and geese who fussed at me as I passed by. Also saw the “Hillbilly Hilton,” a small earthen shelter that could house someone for an overnight in a pinch.
