Cape Cod can be beautiful…and far too crowded and touristy. The solution is to go during winter, when the views are still lovely but the people are scarce.
The few trails at Monomoy NWR are sandy, and at one point on the Morris Loop Trail the ocean invaded. I turned around at that point and got the rest of the loop from the other side.
I did all the trail mileage I could given the ocean’s intrusion. There is an additional mile and a half of hiking on an island managed by the refuge, but one needs a boat to get to that area. There is no public ferry, and the most recent cost to charter a boat is in the hundreds. No thanks. I’m fine sticking with doing all the trails readily accessible to the general public.
To get to Morris Trail and its extensions, one needs to walk down the street from the refuge parking area and enter a private residential area. The entrance to the access trail is 1/4 mile down the road and past some very swanky homes.
