This National Recreation Trail is 35 miles long and runs from East Syracuse to Rome, NY. The eastern half is part of the North Country NST, so I’ll do that bit when I hike the North Country Trail.
Did the western 17 miles over two days as part out-and-back and part Uber-shuttle. This is a lovely and well-maintained walk along the old canal. Lots of geese with their goslings, ducks, hares, deer, and aquatic critters. Parts of it were pavement and parts were hard-packed dirt. It rained on me both days, which gave me a chance to test my pack liner. Everything inside my pack stayed dry – yay!
