I spent the last two weeks in Tracy City, TN visiting South Cumberland State Park (previous post) and Savage Gulf State Park. The entire trail network of both State Parks constitute “a” National Recreation Trail, and Savage Gulf is a National Natural Landmark due to its old growth forests.
The trails in these two parks are fantastic, similar in footing to what you’d find in NH’s White Mountains.
Savage Gulf SP. There are three entrances to the park, and I hiked ten miles (give or take) at each location. A backpacker could easily spend a week within the vast network of Savage Gulf trails.
I immensely enjoyed my time in these two parks. This is beautiful hiking. Bet the colors really pop in the fall.
