What a glorious day! Thanks to @sara.stebbi for suggesting Morgan Hill State Forest (Finger Lakes Trail map O1). Well-maintained with some nice ups and downs through lovely trees, with a viewpoint and a waterfall to boot. The morning temps were perfect, and there was only one deer fly. Good times. Did either 6.3 miles of trail (Gaia) or 6.8 (Apple’s activity tracker) with a 1.4 mile roadwalk to create a loop of 7.7 or 8.3 total miles. Felt like nothing. Will start doing longer dayhikes now.
