Spent four days hiking 20 Finger Lakes Trail miles (32.9 total miles including loops with other trails/roads).
Photos 1-5: Virgil Mtn/Greek Peak, where I stood on the highest point in Cortland County. Aug 1
Photos 6- 10: Roger H Treman State Park. If you want to see the gorge and falls, you have to leave the Finger Lakes Trail and do a side-quest. Aug 5
Photos 11-15: Little Rock City. Some real and sustained elevation gain on this hike! Felt good. Noticed some very nice campgrounds along the trail and access roads. Aug 7.
Photos 16-20: Allegany State Park. No views on my hike. Narrow trails and close vegetation. Pretty campgrounds along the main road. Aug 9
I am now done with the NCT in NY, and I have no regrets about doing 100 miles of it in each state instead of hiking the whole thing. Almost all my other USA goals are filled with hiking, and it’s going to take me 25 years to do everything else I want to do anyway. When I am 80 and finished all my goals, I’ll circle back and see if I want to do the remaining NCT miles.
